New Ministry Partners
We have an awesome opportunity to become partners with a fantastic ministry called Foster the Bay. They work with local churches to build more foster families as well as a non-professional support network around them. They are very excited to be able to point their families and volunteers towards our camp as another resources for their foster children as well as another place their volunteers can serve. I am also looking forward to helping all of you connect to another way of volunteering in the foster world and further building connections with other groups and ministries in our community that are doing the same work we are. Already there are some things where they can use our help:
- They shared an Amazon wishlist on behalf of our local Social Services offices. Some of the needs on the list are for foster families and some are for the agency itself. Their case workers are already overloaded and are anticipating a huge spike in abuse reports after children return to school and are seen again by people other than those they live with. Like us, they care about their people and want to do what they can to keep them safe, healthy, and provided for during this time.
- There is an urgent and immediate need for families that are willing to take in children, most specifically teenagers. If you are interested and able, please contact Santa Cruz Health and Human Services. They are ready to fast track and make some exceptions for families that can take in teenagers.
